Most people are very familiar with staying overnight in a hotel room, buying an airline ticket online or through a travel agent, renting a car, movie or a piece of equipment. Even ordering a pizza for delivery has a few basic rules and policies. We have some of the same guidelines that you’ll learn about in the faq section below.
For example, it’s best to reserve your hotel room or book your flight a few weeks before- so please reserve your recopacks a few weeks before you start packing- just to be on the safe side. That way we can accommodate your order and your not left our in the cold. If you need recopacks immediately, give us a call and if we have open slots available, we would love to help you green your move. If you rented a car and used it two days longer than expected, you do have to pay for the extra time. As for delivery, just like pizza, someone has to be home to sign for it- that way we know that you have received your order and your super happy with the product. The same goes for picking up the recopacks, we need someone you trust to be there to make sure we get all of them back and none are missing.
Take a look at the three sections below and if we don’t have a question to one of your answers, please post your question below and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

If you just found out about our service, and your in a rush, last minute, need our help, please send us an e-mail in our place order section with " URGENT" and we'll do our best to green your move with our [ recopacks ].

How many [ recopacks ] will I need to pack and move?
We get this question everyday and have the world famous "Box Buddha" to help you determine roughly what you'll need. Please take a quick look at "Box Buddha" guideline and remember, on the day of your delivery, one of our eco-agents will physically walk your place for free and will give you their expert opinion on how many [ recopacks ] you'll need to pack and move efficiently. What makes our system so unique and adaptable to your specific needs is that our green machine delivery trucks are actually mobile mini warehouses. If you need a few more or a few less, no worries, we'll have it on board. We usually carry twice as many [ recopacks ] on the green machines because so many people under estimate how much stuff they have to pack and move. Check out our famous little " Box Buddha", I know he'll give you the enlightenment that you'll need!
-
Can I pickup my order from one of your warehouses?
At this time, we can only deliver the [ recopacks ] direct to your place and pick them up when you're done. In order to keep our prices under the cost of buying new or used cardboard boxes, we have opted to be a direct delivery service without all of the overhead costs typically found with a open to the public warehouse operation. We also want to see where the boxes are going and that they will be in good hands when you're packing and moving with them. On occasion, we have had to refuse service to clients based on poor and unusual living conditions. This way our [ recopacks ] stay nice and clean if you know what I mean!
-
Is your service really cheaper than buying new or used cardboard boxes?
Yes it is and here's the quick explanation on why our system is cheaper, faster and better for the earth. For starters:
- need less boxes- you can pack more in our boxes as they are made from NANO plastics and are very durable. Most people never factor in their research time, time to drive to the store, stand in a checkout line, load the stuff into their car, drive back home, unload, start building boxes.. and at this point you still haven't pack one item..
- no impulse decisions. let's say if you cruise the internet- most people will see new and used cardboard boxes based on impulse buying and by the time the get the stuff delivered- they realize that they need more new or used cardboard boxes- they now have ran out of time and end up either dumpster diving or buying last minute, paying ridiculous prices... and when they look at all of the money that they have spent to pack and move, it will be twice as much compared to rent a green box.
- get the perfect box. then after you get the boxes built- you're wasting valuable time fussing with that messy tape- no handles and if you don't pack them just right which tales skill and practice... not too heavy and not too light-they will crush when stacked during transport... so again- way to much mental energy and time to pack a perfect box...
- stack perfectly. then they don't load as fast nor do they stack as high- so the loads are less efficient and not practical when your moving a 1 bedroom to a company move. Then you have to breakdown each bix, vutting that messy tape to carry them to the dumpster, or load them into your car and drive to a recycle center. Don't you think this is just a huge waste of time? I know that it's not very practical in a world wired for one click shopping and instant messaging. What do you think?

We have a minor delay in our moving schedule....
First off- don't worry as this happens all of the time. If you planned on receiving our recopacks and your move is delayed a few days, we'll still deliver them on schedule. If it's more than a week, we can rebook the delivery base don your new schedule. And again, don't worry this happens all of the time and it's really no problem to rebook your delivery date and time. If you arrive at your new place and have a delay in unpacking, just let us know when you'll be ready for a pickup and we'll update your invoice based on the weekly rental rate of your invoice. We have found that it's cheaper to have all of the recopacks ready, at one time for pickup, instead of paying for additional partial pickups.

Can I buy your cool lime green [ recopacks ]?
We get this question everyday and at this time, we are not selling them to the public. We can't even keep up with demand making them for ourselves and for our future operating partners. Each [ recopack] is really expensive at this point and not practical to sell direct to the public, as we designed them to be a sustainable, cradle to cradle, zero waste- 100% recycled product. They are designed and engineered to last for up to 400 round trip applications.. so they're made for industrial use. When they do become worn out, we just grind them up and make another [ recopack] ... If your a company that wants to eliminate the use of cardboard boxes from your operation, please drop us a note and we'll go over our programs with you!
We do sell the beta grey recopacks in lots of 10. We used these original recopacks to test our systems and product design. The dimensions are 20 inches long by 11 inches deep by 11 inches wide. We sell these for $28.00 per each recopack, so a lot of 10 is $280.00. If you need more than 100, please contact us for an exact price quote.
-
Are you franchising the business?
Absolutely! We are growing like a green weed and we would love for you to take a few minutes to review our national expansion section on this website and see if you're the right fit to change the way America packs and moves with the first, zero-waste pack and move solution in America.

Why did you change the name from earth friendly moving to rent-a-green box?
We have the long story coming in the next few weeks- but here's the short version for now. In the development stage of the company name, we thought of the company as an "earth friendly way to move"... so we created the name earth friendly moving. We added a cool green color and made a tree that looked really dead and brown like cardboard. Overall our earth friendly logo looked really really cool and unique.
After a few days, we fell in love with the look and feel of our cool green logo. We plastered it all over our fleet of green machines, marketing materials.. you name it- we added the name and logo to everything- even our trash cans. Let’s just say we were very proud of the name, look and feel... maybe a bit too proud.
As my dad said, who is probably the best modern day marketer, “ if you have the name plumber in your name like joe’s plumbing service... you’re a plumber, that’s why your company name has to be easy, simple to understand and to the point of what you actually do as a business”.

As we entered the market with our zero waste moving box rental service, we would hear people talking about our logo and trucks and they would say stuff like “ look, you can even hire a green moving company.” We had the word moving in our company name and we using trucks that for the most part are like moving trucks. So one plus one equaled= you’re a green moving company. Dad was right again.
We knew that we had to do a better job at creating a company name that would be super easy to remember and easy for everyone to understand. We were still making recopacks in a muddy grey beige depending on the mixture of color used. Around the same time, we had figured out a way to optically sort all of the different colored plastic bottles into color groups. The more we worked at blending the right colors of plastic, in particular the yellow, blue, clear and white- we were finally able to make an electric lime green colored recopack.
Eureka we now had a green recopack and naturally started saying when you rent a green box ( made from trash and it’s the color green) it hit. Simple, we’ll call company exactly what we do- we Rent-a-Green Box. Then we added the tagline “ it’s cheaper than using cardboard boxes”.
What we’ve learned is to keep it factual, real simple, easy to understand, and that father knows best.
Thanks DAD!

Do I (or one of my friends) have to be at my place to receive my order?
Yes, we do need someone at your place to receive and accept the order. We count the [ recopacks ] three times before arriving and delivering them to your place. We will count them one more time with you, when delivered. After we have counted them with you, we will have you or your friend sign the rental contract for the delivery. The same goes when we pick them up. We will count them on your property with either you or your friend. We will then recount them before we load them on the green machine. If there's any missing [ recopacks ] from your order, we allow the time that it takes for us to load your order onto the green machine. If you're not able to find the missing recopacks, we will have you sign the missing report contract and then will bill your credit card the next business day. If you get lucky and find the missing recopack after we leave, just call us and we'll come back and pick it back up. We will credit back your card, minus the re-pickup fee that can range between $29.00 and $69.00 dollars.
-
What if I need more [ recopacks ] after you deliver my order?
Our main goal is to make sure that you have enough [ recopacks ] to pack and move efficiently, when we leave your place. If you need more, we do have to charge an additional delivery fee, as it's a second order. So, it's better to be safe than sorry and have to pay the extra delivery fee to have more [ recopacks] delivered. It's very common to have a few extra [ recopacks ] that are not being used while moving.
-
What's the best way to contact the company if I have a change in plans or a last minute delay in my move?
The best way to reach us is to send us an e-mail and then follow up with a quick voice mail if we don't get back to you within 3 hours. If you need to reschedule the delivery date, please let us know asap as we have a lot of folks on the waiting list to get our famous green [ recopacks ]. Thanks for your help on this one... we totally appreciate it.
-
How much space do I need in my garage or place for the [ recopacks ]?
It depends on your order, but if you can clear out a 4 foot by 10 foot area in your garage or place for the [ recopacks ], that would be ideal. Please have this space cleared and ready before we arrive. If we have to help clear a space to deliver them into the requested location, we do have to charge a minor labor fee to cover the cost of our time, labor and delay in schedule. Most orders can easily fit next to the side of a car in a standard garage. Please note that we have several deliveries each day on each green machine, so we want to make sure that everyone gets their order and appreciate that you'll be ready for us when we arrive!
-
Is there a cancellation fee if decide that I don't need the service?
If you place an order and let us know at least 5 days in advance, we only charge the credit card processing fees to credit back to your account. This is usually about 2.5% of the pre taxed sales amount. So if your order is $200.00- we would charge back to you $5.00 to cancel your order. Three days before costs $59.00 and the day before or same day cancellation is half the cost of the order. We have this fee due to all of the internal labor costs and logistical costs that we spend to prep and load your order for delivery.
-
What if I need more packing materials on the day of my move?
We will be more than happy to redeliver materials to your address based our eco-agents route and delivery schedule. We do charge a minor redelivery fee to bring over more of our zero-waste packing and moving materials.
For Pick-Ups
-
Do I ( or a friend ) have to be home when you pickup the [ recopacks ]?
Yes, we do need someone to be home when we pickup the [ recopacks ]. the main reason is that if you leave them outside for us to pick them up and someone decides to borrow a few of your [ recopacks ] without your knowledge, you have to pay for the missing [ recopacks ]. it's best to have them in a safe and secure location, preferably your garage . We will count the [ recopacks ] one time on your property and then one time before we load them onto the green machine. if you're missing any recopacks, we will give you the time it takes for use to load your order back on the truck to return the missing [ recopacks ]. if you have lost one, the eco agneet will have you fill out our missing [ recopack ] report and sign it. we will charge your credit card the next business day or we will accept a check on the spot before the eco-agent leaves. at a later date, you do locate the missing [ recopacks ], we will pickup back up and will credit your account, minus our pickup fee.
-
If I forgot to be at my place for the pickup
We understand when timing does not work out right after a move. you've had a lot going on and we understand. If we have a cell phone text message or voice mail permission to retreive the recopacks, we will get them from your place. We will also count them immediately and the eco-agent will call you with a total count. if the count is accurate, then we're good to go. if you're missing any recopacks, we will charge your credit card on file for the missing [ recopacks ]. if you find them at a later date, we will credit back the cost minus the pickup fees.
If we cannot get the [ recopacks ], we will reschedule and will bill you a re-pickup fee that can range between $39 and $69.00 dollars. it's really works best if you have all of the [ recopacks ] in a safe place ready on your scheduled pickup day.
-
I ran out of room in the new place, can I leave the [ recopacks ] outside after I have unpacked?
We recommend that you keep them inside of your garage or inside to prevent any outside elements like rain, dirt, dust, over spray from paint, construction debris or even theft from occuring to the recopacks. if they are left outside and they require a deep cleaning due to being left outside, we will charge you a $3.00 deep cleaning fee per recopack. we take great pride in our product and want to make sure that each recopack is in tip top shape all of the time and we appreciate your efforts and consideration!
-
Should I throw out all of the used packing materials?
Please place all used packing materials inside one of the supplied recobags when you're unpacking. Our recobags hold a lot of material and it's part of the service to take this back and either reuse it or recycle it into more zero waste packign and moving products!
-
I bought too much packing materials. Can I return these for a credit back?
We will only accept for return credit unused reco-paper and unused rolls of geami packing paper. If you have the other materials in one of the recobags, we will gladly take this back and we will recycle it into more packing materials. It's all about detoxing our landfills and providing a zero waste pack and move solution!
-
Can I let my friend borrow the [ recopacks] after my move?
Here's how I look at it. If you are renting them, the [ recopacks ] are your responsibility. If your friend looses, damages or we have to deep clean them, then you're the name on the contract and you'll need to pay any of the additional charges incurred. But, if your friend borrows them without any issues, what we don't know won't hurt us...
